
John Tinkey
Senior Managing Director
John Tinkey is a Senior Managing Director for Osprey Capital, responsible for Origination and Underwriting new investments, with a primary focus on the North and South Carolina markets. John retired from Wells Fargo Bank, NA in 2021 after 19 years as a Managing Director within Real Estate Capital Markets of the Corporate and Investment Banking division. Prior to the financial crisis, John's last role was as Head of Southeast Origination for Wachovia's Fixed Income Division, which consisted of managing 5 regional production offices and a centralized deal management team that was responsible for multiple debt capital product offerings. During the financial crisis, John led a work-out team that managed 20+ construction and permanent (CMBS) lending relationships.
In May of 2010, John reopened the Southeastern Real Estate Capital Markets office for Wells Fargo and, as Head of Real Estate Capital Markets - Southeast, managed a team of 10 professionals who originated over $5B in non-recourse CMBS and balance sheet debt over this timeframe. John also managed the 3-year closure of Wells Fargo's Commercial Net Lease Capital Markets business, which consisted of completing construction and the sale of single tenant, credit leased assets owned by a subsidiary of Wells Fargo that approximated $200MM in total sales volume.
Prior to Wells Fargo, John spent 9 years with Bank of America with a title of Managing Director in his last position within the Real Estate Capital Markets of the Corporate and Investment Bank with a focus on Southeastern United States. Over the 9 years, he worked in various capacities in credit, program/deal management, and origination nationally. John has a commercial real estate appraisal background and worked with a private fee-based appraisal company in Atlanta, Georgia and in an appraisal review capacity with Bank of America in Charlotte, North Carolina.
John received his BBA in Real Estate and Urban Affairs With a Specialization in Income Property Valuation from Georgia State University. He has completed CCIM 101-103 courses and completed 8 courses via the Appraisal Institute.
